REHAB MISSION

Type: news By Caresse Posted Sep 1, 2010 2 Comments

Lecrae is preparing to embark on a journey far away from album sales, interviews, and videos.

Check out his latest blog to find out where he's going and how you can support the mission.

Rehabilitation is a process.

I'm currently undergoing a certain type of rehab. Spiritually, I'm being conformed into the image of Christ. It's painful because the old me, my flesh, is resistant and hates the process. To be completely honest, this year alone I've battled legalism, depression, anxiety, and selfishness. Not only are those things difficult and frustrating for myself and people around me, but they are also a hideous offense to God. They are sins and/or the results of sin.

The obvious cure is ALWAYS seeing and savoring more of Jesus. But HOW do we do that in this world of distractions competing for our affections?

Take me for example, I spent the last few months recording my album, rigorously checking my Twitter and Facebook, moving to a new area, traveling on weekends, filming videos, having family outings, date nights, meetings, and interviews. Where in that whirlwind do I find fresh affection for Jesus? Where do I demonstrate to my children that Daddy is different than other entertainers out there?

Many of us need to stop and reflect on God. I've found nothing like the solace and restoration of being somewhere my phone and laptop don't go; where I don't know what the latest movie is; where all the luxuries and distractions of my life are stripped away and I'm left to focus on Jesus and his mission... Read More

 Album Bio

Anger, depression, addiction, and discontentment: just a few of the ills that plaque many a man.  The solutions: join a group, read a book, basically, YOU can win this battle!

But what about the war?  In solely attacking the behaviors or the external problems in our lives the origin of our issues is overlooked.  Essentially, we try to alter effects, instead of exploring and tackling the cause. Some don’t realize the root of their problems is internal, in fact spiritual. Others recognize, but underestimate how serious their problems are. And even still, as believers, we trust in ourselves to overcome by our own strength.

Out of a burden to encourage and challenge others, while also confessing his own struggles in this area, Lecrae offers REHAB.  On his long-awaited fourth album, Lecrae informs listeners that because of our sinful nature we all need rehabilitation, healing, and restoration back to the original state of unity with God. The universal solution to all our problems is not found in anything but Jesus. The Christian life is therefore an entrance into rehab.

Fittingly, the REHAB experience begins with “Check In,” as Lecrae prepares himself and his audience to leave behind their addictions and hindrances and enter rehabilitation.  What follows is not the usual compilation of sermons and theology-driven lyrics listeners have come to expect from Lecrae. Instead, REHAB is full of gritty, heartfelt, vulnerable and even emotional songs like “Just Like You,” which specifically explores the impact of substitutionary role models that pale in comparison to the perfect example found in Christ.

Lecrae gets support from Sho Baraka, Trip Lee, Tedashii, Pro, J.R., Benjah and many others along the journey towards restoration—with several memorable collaborations.  PK, CheeseBeats, J.R., and Benjah contribute on production and sonically, help take the listener along a soul-full ride.  REHAB also features bangers like “Use To Do It Too” and “High” along with the anthems “Children of the Light,” “40 Deep,” and “Walking On Water”--on which Lecrae boasts in God’s ability to empower the weakest of men.

Lecrae’s prayer is that people will not just gain practical insight for their lives, but they would find real sympathy from him and mostly, Jesus.  He is more than our healer. He IS our healing.  He doesn't just offer us peace. He IS our peace. And He IS our rehabilitation. So find rest for your weary soul and joy in the midst of life's ups and downs by checking into REHAB.

TRIP LEE ON LATEST ALBUM AND REAL LIFE

Type: news By Caresse Posted Aug 12, 2010 4 Comments

Trip lee talks to Christian Today about life, marriage, and his latest album.

From Christian Today:

CT: You’ve just brought out your new album ‘Between Two Worlds’. What does it mean to be in between two worlds?

TL: I wanted to make an album that dealt with life and the things that people wrestle with. I want it to be stuff that everybody can relate to - the difficulties in life, because we live in a broken world, a fallen world. It’s really a collection of reflections about life. For me as a believer I found myself in between two worlds because I live in this world, this fallen world and I want to glorify God here and I want to point to Jesus here, I want to work here and live with my wife here but I also look forward to the recreation of this world when the Lord Jesus comes back and makes all things new. I live here but my citizenship is in Heaven. Read more

In God We Trust

Type: news By Caresse Posted Jul 28, 2010 1 Comments

Check out Tedashii's latest blog, "In God We Trust," in which he reflects on man's brokenness and the hope we can find in wholeheartedly trusting in God.

Consider with me for a moment this statement:

“If we put our hope, our trust, in anyone other than the person of Jesus Christ and the Creator of the universe, then we are putting our trust in something broken.”

I love that quote.

In this world, we are a people guilty of looking to anything other than God to trust in.  We look to government, corporations, retirement, family, friends, and even ourselves--all to no avail.  They fail us.  They are broken.

If we want to feel loved, significant, desired, or accepted, we often look to others--broken like ourselves--rather than to God our creator.

So it’s with this brokenness in mind that I reach out to all who will hear and share my heart on an issue that plagues mankind.  The issue being, concerning all areas of life, the mistake of placing trust in broken solutions rather than God alone... Read More

ASK THE ARTIST

Type: news By Caresse Posted Jul 15, 2010 76 Comments

Ever wondered what the inspiration was for your favorite Tedashii song? What does an average day look like for Sho Baraka?  How does Trip handle being married at a young age? And what’s Lecrae’s writing process?

Well, from time-to-time, we will give our 116 fam an opportunity to ask one of our artists a question to learn a little bit more about them.  You have 24 hours to submit your question to caresse@reachrecords.com, and the artist will pick three questions to answer each time.  Each person can only submit one question, so make it good!

First up: Tedashii

Pray for our troops

Type: news By Caresse Posted Jul 13, 2010 13 Comments

Living in such a free country, we often forget about those sacrificing their lives for our safety and the many freedoms we enjoy.

Recently, Lecrae had the honor of recognizing some of those brave individuals while performing and ministering to a capacity crowd of soldiers-in-training and army officers at Fort Jackson (South Carolina).

He was also faced with the reality that many of these soldiers will lose their lives in-battle in the coming months. His hope is that you would join him in praying for the safety of our troops and beyond that, the salvation of their souls.

You can view pictures from the Rock the Fort event here.

Thanks to all your support, Trip Lee's latest album, "Between Two Worlds," has been a major success!

"B2W" is currently holding down the No. 1 spot on both the Billboard Contemporary Christian chart and the Billboard Gospel chart! The album debuted on the Top 10 Albums chart on iTunes and also landed at No. 5 on the Hip-Hop/Rap Albums chart, alongside releases from Eminem and Drake.
